Kunal Kapoor Biography

Kunal Kapoor is a popular actor of Bollywood at present. He is most known for his role in Rang de basanthi in 2006, for which earned a Filmfare nomination in supporting actor category. He debut with Meenaxi: A Tale of Three Cities, opposite Tabu in the year 2005 and Rang de basanthi is his second film. He is also noted for his performances in comeback movie of Madhuri Dixit – Aaja Nachle opposite Konkana Sen Sharma. His other significant roles in Bollywood are Hattrick, Don 2, Laaga chunari mein daag, Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana, Bachna Ae Haseeno, Lamhaa and Welcome to Sajjanpur. His two movies – Chamkila and Doga are slated to release on 2014. He has done only fewer movies in the past 7 years. Yet he is a notable figure and style icon of Bollywood at present.

Kunal Kapoor was born on 18 October, 1977. Kapoor began his career as an assistant director on 2001 critically acclaimed movie, Aks starring Amitabh Bachchan, Nanditha Das and Raveena Tandon in leading roles. He did training in acting under theatre legend Barry John and he was engaged in theatre for a few years. He worked aside big names like Nasurudden Shah and Motley in theatre. In 2005, he got a big break to Bollywood. He was casted as the leading actor by famous painter M.F.Husain in the second movie as a director, Meenaxi: A Tale of Three Cities. Tabu was casted as leading lady. Despite having good music score by A.R.Rehman, this movie failed to make an impact in the public.

In 2006, Kapoor became an overnight sensation with the hit film Rang De Basanti, which was critically well acclaimed too. The movie was directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra. Very soon, Aaja Nachle was released. Though the movie was a big flop, the romantic song ‘Ishq hua’ pictured on him and Konkana Sen Sharma made him a popular actor. He has endorsed popular brands like Thumps up, Indian terrain, Ray Ban and Mahindra Logan. Though he has a lot of flops in his name, he has a huge female fan crowd following him always, for his distinct look.
