Kummanam Rajasekharan Biography

Kummanam Rajasekharan is an Indian politician and the current Governor of Mizoram and the president of Bharatiya Janata Party in Kerala, India. Kummanam Rajasekharan is an eminent politician from Kerala. A top figure of Bharatiya Janata Party and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in Kerala, he served as the state president of the BJP in Kerala since December 2015. Under his leadership BJP managed to produce its first MLA in the history of Kerala politics in 2016 State Assembly elections. A prominent figure of political and cultural Kerala, his pivot role in ‘Paliyam Declaration’ and movement against Nilakkal temple land encroachment are of great significance. He holds several pivot positions such as general secretary of Sabarimala Ayyappa Sewa Samajam and Hindu Aikya Vedi Organisation, Chairman of Janmabhumi daily etc.

 

He hails from Kummanam village of Kottayam district. His schooling was done at his native village and later completed graduation from CMS College, Kottayam. He completed PG diploma in journalism and worked as a journalist for many periodicals for many years. He currently serves as the Chairman of Janmabhumi daily, which includes cultural articles related to Hinduism.  He worked with government sector (Food Corporation of India, Kochi) till 1987 and became a full-time Pracharak of RSS after resigning his job. He played a significant role in spearheading Vishva Hindu Parishad in Kerala, and stood for the promotions of many activities related to Hinduism. He also played a significant role in bringing several spiritual organizations under one roof.

 

As a journalist he started his career with Deepika in the year 1974 at Kottayam. Later he served as a sub-editor of Rastravartha, Keraladesam, Kerala Bhooshanam and Kerala Dwani before he took a break from journalism in the year 1976. Till 1987 he worked with Food Corporation of India, Kochi. Then he resigned his job and became fully associated with Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. In 2016 state assembly elections he contested as BJP candidate from Vattiyoorkavu constituency. But he lost to K. Muraleedharan.
