Krutibas Nayak Biography

Krutibas Nayak is a famous writer belonging to Odia and Hindi language. Apart from non-fiction writings, he also authors novels, poems, plays and short stories in this regional language. As a writer, his contribution to the field of children literature is immensely huge. He holds a doctorate degree in the field of Children's literature with his thesis named Oriya Shishu Galpara Swaroop O Vikash. He has also served as an editor with several children’s magazines. He also had a brief career with All India Radio in Jeypore, Odisha during 2012-2015. He also penned lyrics for some Oriya language films.

 

Dr. Krutibas Nayak was born in 1955 in an east coast village named Ektala in Rajkanika of Odisha. He graduated in literature from Berhampur University, and also completed his doctorate in 1992. By that time, he was already an established author of children’s literature. Nayak has authored more than 100 books in Oriya language, belonging to both fiction and non-fiction genre. Shubhalakshmi, Koola Bohu and Hasakuri Janha are his published novels.

 

Bana Bhoji, Phoola Sabu Phootile, Dadgua Azanka Maza Kahani, Maja Gapa, Kiachhi Maza Kichhi Taza Kahani and Aasa Aame Gapa Padhiba are his major works in the genre of of children’s literature.    Ochha Mahasangha and Betar Nataka are his plays. Srujana Sanlapa, Prerna and Nabam Parba are his biographical works. He is a recipient of numerous awards and honours including the prstigious National Award for Children's literature for his children's novel Banabhoji in 1992 and for his children's poem book Phoola Sabu Phutile in 1999. He is also a recipient of National Award for Hindi writer from non-Hindi speaking area for his novel Shubalakshmi in 2002, Vishuba Award in 1986, Sansar Award and many more.
