Kriti Kharbanda Biography

Kriti Kharbanda is a south Indian film actress who primarily works in Kannada and Telugu movies. She originally hails from New Delhi, but brought up in Bangalore. Her family settled in the city in the 1990s. She is a former model who made her film debut through 2009 Telugu film Boni. Bhima Jewellers, Spar and Fair and Lovely are some of her popular television ads. Chiru, Googly, Mr. Nookaya, Theenmar, Ala Modalaindi and Boni are some of her noted works.

Kriti was born in Delhi and grown up in Bangalore. She completed diploma in jewel designing and was interested in modelling since college days. She has been a popular face of many ad campaigns. The director Raj Pippala noticed her photo on the Spar billboard and gave her the first film offer. Kriti didn’t have any plans to work in movies, yet her mother encouraged her to accept the offer. She attended the audition and got selected for the lead role from 150 girls who appeared in the auditions. She made her film debut through Telugu film - Boni which received negative response from critics. Her acting was also criticized, though her looks were appreciated.

  
After playing brief and friendly appearances in a few films including Pawan kalyan’s Teen Maar she made her Kannada debut with Chiru. Her acting skills were praised by critics and the movie was also a box office hit. She played lead role in Mr. Nookayya alongside Manoj Manchu – a remake of Tamil flick Subramanyapuram, which she regards to be the most challenging role of her career. She worked in both Kannada and Telugu movies equally and received both positive and negative responses. Her role was widely praised by critics for the movie – Googly and was a box office hit. Now with a handful of movies in her hand, she is one of the most successful south Indian actresses at present.
