Kranti Redkar Biography

Kranti Redkar is a very popular actress associated with Marathi entertainment industry. She is a versatile stage actress, apart from film and television actress. She is a film director as well. She made her film debut in lead role in year 2000 Marathi film 'Soon Asavi Ashi' opposite Ankush Choudhary. She was also seen in a brief role in Bollywood film Gangaajal, but she later fully concentrated to Marathi film and television industry, apart from theater work. Rockey, Karaar, Kaakan, Yudh etc are her recent works. In 2015 she made her directorial debut with the emotional drama - Kaakan starring Jitendra Joshi and Urmila Kanitkar.

She hails from Mumbai and was born on 17 August 1982. She made her film debut in the year 2000 with the film, 'Soon Asavi Ashi'. Since then she is regular in the film industry. She was seen in the pivot character of a kidnapped girl - Apoorva in Prakash Jha's Hindi film 'Gangaajal'. However she concentrated to Marathi films later. 2006 Marathi comedy film Jatra - Hyalagaad Re Tyalagaad is yet another popular work, where she played lead role opposite Bharat Jadhav and Siddarth Jadhav. She was featured in the song, ‘Kombdi palali, tangdi dharun’ aside Bharat Jadhav which became an instant chartbuster. The music composer duo Ajay-Atul later reused the tune to compose the ever popular Chikni Chameli for Bollywood film, Agneepath featuring Katrina Kaif.

She made her directorial debut with Kaakan in 2015. After receiving warm response from public, she is not so hurry to make her second film. In fact she is busy with promoting her own films where she worked as an artist. After her directorial debut, she appeared in ‘Sugar Salt Aani Prem’, ‘Yudh’, ‘Murder Mestri’ etc. The actress is married to Sameer Wankhede since March 2017. Her hubby backs her career choice and she will work both on screen and off screen in the coming years.
