Kotla Jayasurya Prakasha Reddy Biography

Kotla Jayasurya Prakasha Reddy is an Indian politician from the state of Andhra Pradesh. He was a member of the 15th Lok Sabha of India, who got elected from Kurnool constituency of Andhra Pradesh using Indian National Congress ticket. Former parliamentarian and union minister as well, Reddy served as Union Minister of State, Ministry of Railways during 28 October 2012 – 26 Jun 2014 under Manmohan Singh’s cabinet. He got elected to Lok Sabha for the first time in 1991 and then got elected two more times, and received a cabinet seat during his final term. He is the son of former chief minister Kotla Vijaya Bhaskara Reddy.

Kotla Jayasurya Prakasha Reddy hails from a political family of Hyderabad, South India. He was born on 18 September 1951 to Shyamala Devi and former chief minister Kotla Vijaya Bhaskara Reddy. Following the footsteps of his father, Jayasurya Prakasha too joined the field of politics and succeeded as a leader. He is a three-term parliamentarian and an influential figure among Telugu speaking people in the national level politics and Congress party. He is married to K. Sujatha Reddy and has three kids. Currently he is settled in Kurnool.

He completed his graduation from Nizam College, Hyderabad. He got into active politics in the late 1980s and early 1990s, and joined parliament for the first time in his early 40s. He got elected to 10th Lok Sabha in 1991 when Congress party registered major win in national level politics, and he repeated success two more times while Manmohan Singh led the government. He also remained as a Consultative Committee member for different committees during his terms as MP.
