Koel Mallick Biography

Koel Mallick is a Bengali film actress who has acted in a few Oriya movies also. In 2012, she won BFJA awards for best actress for the Bengali movie - Helmock Society. 100% Love released in 2012 was a blockbuster and she is the latest sensation of Bengal. Aside Jeet, she has also acted in Bengali movies like - Dui Prithibi, Neel Akasher Chadni, Bandhan, Manik, Ghatok, Hero, Shubhodrishti and Saat Paake Bandha. In fact, she debut film industry in 2003 opposite Jeet with the movie, Nater Guru. Their upcoming project, The Mafia is scheduled to release next year. The pair has appeared together in eleven movies, thus one of the best jodis of present Bengali cinema.

Koel was born in Kolkata as the daughter of Bengali actor, Ranjit Mullick and Deepa Mullick. Koel did her schooling from Modern High School for Girls. Later she did degree in Psychology from the Gokhale Memorial Girls' College. Mallick's screen debut was in Nater Guru - opposite of Jeet. The movie was a hit marking successful debut of Mallick. After a few flops in 2004 like Devipaksha, Shudhu Tumi, Badshah, her next movie, Bandhan became a blockbuster thus establishing her successful pairing with superstar Jeet. This movie was the highest grosser of 2004 too.

 
In 2005, she played lead role in movies like Shubha Drishti, Manik, Juddha and Chorey Chorey Mastuto Bhai. MLA Phatakeshto and Love are her other noted movies in the following years. She has also made her television debut and endorses a few products as well. Her commercials on TVS Motor Company, Fair & Lovely, Panasonic and Vaseline are popular. Talk-show Katha O Kahini was her debut show and later became a celebrity judge in Bengali Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa. On February 1, 2013, she married her boyfriend Nispal Singh.
