Kesava Reddy Biography

Kesava Reddy was a popular writer associated with Telugu language, best known as a novelist. Through his works he mostly dealt with social issues such as poverty, prejudices, and superstitions, and also teaches others how to become socially responsible. His works fall in between idealistic and popular styles of writings, and often bridges both. ‘Athadu Adavini Jayinchadu’ is his most popular novel. The book was published in the 1980s. He lived during the period, 10 March 1946 - 13 February 2015. He died in Nizamabad, Telangana at the age of 68 after prolonged illness. He was also a doctor by profession, and has specialized in Dermatology. This doctor is known for his simplicity and politeness.

 

Kesava Reddy hailed from Thalapula Palli, Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh. He was born on 10 March 1946. He started publishing his books since mid-1970s, and he published 2 long stories published in one volume in 1975. The book was titled Banisalu – Bhagavanuvacha. Incredible Goddess or Kshudra Devatha, Smasaanam dunneru, Athadu Adavini Jayinchadu, Ramudunaadu- Raajjaymundaadi, City Beautiful, Mugavani Pillana Grovi, Chivari gudise, Muneamma and Moogavani Pillanagrovi: Ballad of Ontillu are the books he authored later. As a writer he penned around eight novels, short and long stories. Some of his works have been translated into English and other languages.

 

He completed his MBBS from JIPMER College in Pondicherry and joined the Victoria Missionary Hospital at Dichpally four decades ago. He was sent by the hospital management to CMC Vellore in Tamil Nadu to do his PG in Dermatology. Once he completed the course, he returned to Victoria Missionary Hospital. He treated a number of leprosy patients during his career.
