Kausar Munir Biography

Kausar Munir is a successful lyricist and screenwriter of Bollywood. She wrote the lyrics of the chartbuster song ‘Pareshaan’ of Ishaqzaade in 2012 which helped her to bag Zee Cine Award for Best Lyricist. The song also bagged multiple awards for its playback singer Shalmali Kholgade. The title of the movie was also coined from one of the songs written by Kausar for the movie. Falak Tak chal of Tashan and title track of Ishaqzaade and Anjaani Anjaani are some of her other popular tracks. She is one among the rare female lyricists of Bollywood at present, though she is not well-versed in Urdu. Now she is busy writing for some big banners.

 

She born and brought up in Bandra, Mumbai. She has been attracted to music and songs since her younger days. She started off with television serial Jassi Jaisi Koi nahin. Her entry to Bollywood happened with Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin, when she was offered the lyricist job by Vijay Krishna Acharya who made his maiden venture - Tashan. She made her Bollywood debut as a lyricist with this 2008 flop movie. Though the movie was a huge flop, its songs were hugely noticed. Falak tak chal was the top romantic song of the movie and thus she got her big break to Bollywood.

 

She later wrote some fast numbers for Salman Khan movies like Ek tha tiger, Jai ho etc. "Mashallah" and “Saiyaara” of Ek tha tiger and "Photocopy" of Jai ho are among those. Gori Tere Pyaar Mein, Nautangi Sala, Ishq in Paris, Dhoom 3, Main Tera Hero, Heropanti and Mardaani are some of her noted works in the recent times as a lyricist.
