Karthikeya Murthy Biography 
Karthikeya Murthy is a budding music composer associated with south Indian cinema. He is also known as a singer-songwriter and music producer. He made his debut as a music composer in the year 2015 through the Tamil/Telugu bilingual movie Moone Moonu Varthai/Moodu Mukkallo Cheppalante. He was born into a family of court musicians and he himself belongs to the seventh generation of music lineage. His grandfather T. K. Murthy is a renowned mridangam artist who belongs to the fifth generation of music lineage. Now aged 90 plus, he has dedicated over eight-decades for music. His father T. K. Jayaraman was a music composer at All India Radio, Chennai.
Murthy was born into a musical family of Chennai on 16 May 1985. Belonging to the 7th generation of music, he was born into the family of music greats - Bowdeeshwara Bagavathar, Thanu Bhagavathar, Subramaniya Bhagavathar, Thanu Subramaniya Bhagavathar etc. His father T. K. Jayaraman was a renowned musician and his grandfather Dr. T. K. Murthy is a great mridangam artist. Many of his ancestors served as court musicians. His grandfather T. K. Murthy served as court musician of Travancore kings and also played for street drama, puppet show, Bharatnatyam etc.
Karthikeya Murthy received training in Carnatic music from Chengalpet Ranganathan, D K J. Sukanya and Premalatha, followed by Western Classical music from Abdul Sattar. During his school days he formed a school band titled Pro-teens, and later renamed it as Madras Tunes. His band participated in band hunt show "Oh La La La" conducted by A. R. Rahman and won. As a music composer he started off with short films, jingles and documentaries. He along with his friend Giridharan composed songs for K.Balachander's last stage show "Oru Koodai Paasam" and later made his debut as a film music composer through the movie - Moone Moonu Varthai.
