Karthik Netha Biography 
Karthik Netha is a young lyricist associated with Tamil cinema. He is also a poet. He shot to fame after penning the lyrics for 2018 Tamil blockbuster, 96, starring Vijay Sethupathy in lead role. His songs for the movie, "Yean","Kaathalae Kaathalae", "Anthaathi" and "The Life of Ram" earned him recognition. He wrote four of the seven songs of the romantic film, which holds the fragrance of nostalgia. Earlier he has penned lyrics for more than a dozen of films including Thirumanam Enum Nikkah, Thotti Jaya, Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom, Nedunchaalai etc. Thotti Jaya in 2005 marked his debut in Tamil film industry. His brother Vivek Prasanna is a popular actor of Tamil cinema, playing supporting roles.
Karthik Netha hails from Salem, Tamil Nadu. He grew up in a small village Chinanoor. Later he moved to Chennai to pursue a career in film industry, and currently he is settled there. Since class 10, he dreamt to become a lyricist. The popular song, Kannai Kalaimaane sung by Yesudas haunted him a lot during his childhood days. While studying at class 12, a girl rejected his love and this love failure also attributed a lot to his writings and poetry. He is also a writer and lyricist. Yet he is familiar to Tamilians as a lyricist of Tamil movies, and his songs of recent movie, 96 gave him immense popularity. Karthik Netha initially worked as an assistant of Na. Muthukumar for a few years, before he turned a full-fledged lyricist.
He got his first opportunity as a lyricist through 2005 film, Thotti Jaya. He penned the lyrics of Intha Ooru in the movie. He also penned lyrics for Nepali (2008) and Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu (2009) after that. Suthuthae Suthuthaey and Mulu Neela Kadai for Nepali and Pada Pada for Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu are among his early works. Since early 2010s he gained more opportunities. Yet it took a long time to get the real break he was waiting for.
Songs of 96 brought him to the list of popular lyricists of Tamil cinema and he came to spotlight for the first time. He also received praise from all quarters for his work. He has been addicted to alcohol and other intoxicants which severely affected his career earlier. He was in the hospital when he was approached by Prem Kumar for 96.
