Karim Morani Biography

Karim Morani is a businessman and film producer from Mumbai, best known for his association with Shah Rukh Khan. He also co-produced a few movies of SRK and is his business partner. He is one of the founders of Cineyug, an entertainment company that dabbles in film production, live performances, award shows etc. It has organized world tours apart from live award functions like Filmfare Awards, Zee Cine Awards, Screen Awards, Big Star Entertainment Awards etc. His brother Aly Morani co-owns this company. His brother Mohammed Morani, married to Bollywood actress Lucky Morani is also a film producer.

Karim Morani was born in Mumbai, Maharashtra. As a film industry he joined Bollywood in 1991 as the film producer of Sunny Deol starrer Yodha. But he took almost 12 years to produce a second film. Under the banner of CineYug he produced Dum in 2003 starring Vivek Oberoi and Diya Mirza. The movie featured one the most expensive songs pictured till then. However the movie, originally a remake was a Box office failure. It took 8 more years for his return to Bollywood. This time he co-produced Shah Rukh’s Ra. One which failed to meet expectations. However he continued co-producing a series of movies for SRK.

Karim is not free of controversies. Morani is an alleged accused in the 2G spectrum case. In 2017 he was booked for a rape case of a 25-year-old Delhi-based student and Morani had to surrender to the Hyderabad police. 2014 members of the Ravi Pujari gang made an attempt on the life of Morani. Even his business partner Shah Rukh Khan was asked by Pujari to stay away from him and break all business ties. Karim has co-produced Shah Rukh’s movies such as Chennai Express, Ra. One, Dilwale and Happy New Year.
