Kanmani Biography

Kanmani is a film director who has directed many movies in Tamil and Telugu languages. Telugu movie, Beeruva is his latest work, released in 2015. Chukkalanti Ammayi Chakkanaina Abbayi, Call center, Chinnodu and Naa Oopiri are his other released Telugu movies. He is associated with film field since early 2000s. Aahaa Ethanai Azhagu and Odipolama are a couple of Tamil films and now he is working on his upcoming Tamil project - Peigal Jaakirathai. Though began with Tamil movies, Kanmani tasted success through Telugu movies.

Soon after completing graduation in Presidency College, Chennai Kanmani started his career as chorus singer with Maestro Ilayaraja. He worked with Ilayaraja for long 12 years. His friend Dhamu, a comedian helped him to find a job an assistant director. As a wakeup call, he joined Saran’s team for the movie Gemini as an assistant and thus began his new journey. Aha Ethanai Azhagu (2003), starring Charmi kaur and Mithun was his first full-fledged movie as a director, which flopped at box office. After a brief stint with Tamil cinema he moved to Hyderabad to direct his first Telugu movie - Naa Oopiri. The movie received heavy criticism which the director never expected. But the movie remains the best of Naveen Vadde’s career so far.

Kanmani tasted success in his third attempt. The movie was Chinnodu with Sumanth. The movie released in 2006 also starred Charmme and Rahul and was moderate successful at box office. It was followed by two hits back to back - Naa Oopiri (2005) and Chinnodu (2006) and Kanmani gained success as a Telugu director. His upcoming project Peigal Jaakirathai is a horror comedy. Kanmani is a great admirer of K. Viswanath and his movies.
