Kanchan Biography

Kanchan is a former Indian actress who has been active in the era of 1990s. She was paired opposite Mohanlal in 1993 Malayalam comedy blockbuster – Gandharvam. She played supporting role in one of the earliest hits of Salman Khan – Sanam Bewafa (1991). She was paired opposite Akshay Kumar in 1994 movie Hindi Amaanat which marked the debut of another south Indian actress, Heera.

She has also acted in supporting roles of movies like Coolie No.1, Ram aur Shyam, Mohabbat aur Jung, Aulad ke dushman, Itihaas, Kasam teri Kasam, Jurmana and Army. During 1970’s, she played child artist role in movies like Man Mandir (1971) and Do Sholay (1977). Though she appeared in many movies during 1990’s, he couldn’t make it big in Bollywood. As a lead actress, she is still remembered for Malayalam action comedy, Gandharvam which is the most successful movie of her acting career. She has also appeared in a few Tamil movies.

Kanchan was born in Mumbai in April 17, 1970. She played child artist role in a few Bollywood movies during 1970’s and made her debut as a heroine during early 1990’s. She was seen in Ajith Kumar’s debut film Prema Pustagam. She has also acted in a few Telugu movies. Though her debut Malayalam movie Gandharvam was a huge hit, she didn’t appear in any more Malayalam movies as she concentered towards Hindi and Tamil. But she could find only supporting roles with mid 1990s though she has been able to become part of many hit movies. Coolie No.1 opposite Govinda, Karisma Kapoor and Harish Kumar was one such movie.
