Kamya Punjabi Biography

Kamya Panjabi is a successful television actress known for negative characters. She is also successful as a standup comedian of several television shows. She has been a model before entering small screen and done bit roles in Bollywood. She has also appeared in early films of Hrithik Roshan like Kahona pyar hai, Yadein, Na tum jaano an hum and Koi mil gaya, doing bit roles. She also appeared in Shah Rukh Khan Movie - Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani as a news reporter. It was one of her earliest film appearances. She featured in music videos like Mehndi Mehndi and Kala Shah Kala by Anamika. The television serials - Banoo Mein Teri Dulhann, Piya Ka Ghar, Woh Rehne Waali Mehlon Ki, Maryada: Lekin Kab Tak, Kyun Hota Hai Pyaar, Reth and Amber Dhara placed her as an established ‘vamp’ of small screen and helped her to earn several awards and nominations.

She was born in Mumbai on August 13, 1979. Kamya got married to Bunty Negi in 2003. But due to personal indifferences, they filed divorce in 2006. But later with mutual consent the couple took the case back. A girl was born to them in 2009. She is best known as Sindoora in the television show Banoo Main Teri Dulhan. She won Best Actor in a Negative Role (Female) at Indian Telly Awards and Kalakar Awards in 2008 for the same role. She also won nomination for the same category at Apsara awards and Sansui awards in 2009.

Most recently she has participated as a contestant in reality show – Bigg Boss 7 for which she received Appreciation Award at Lions Gold Awards in 2014. She has participated in Comedy circus – season 2 and has appeared as a standup comedian in Nautanki the Comedy theatre(2013).
