Kamal (director) Biography
Kamal is an Indian film director and his original name is Kamaluddin Mohammad. He concentrates in Malayalam film industry. He entered film industry in the year 1981 and has directed more than 30 films including two non-Malayalam films. He also serves as the general secretary of Malayalam Cine Technicians Association.
Kamal was born on 28th November 1957 in Mathilakam near Kodungallur in Thrissur in Kerala. His father’s name is K.M. Abdul Majeed and his mother’s name is Sulaikhabi. His wife is Saburabi and he has two children, one daughter named Hanna and one son named Januse.
He is not only a film director but also a screen writer. He is noted for the music of his films and has good skills in writing screenplay. He is also interested in film making and this has made him to join Kalabharathi Film Institute at Thrissur.
Some of the films that he has directed include Mizhineer Pookkal, Orkkapurathu, Kakkothikkavile Appooppan Thaadikal, Thooval Sparsam, Shubhayathra, Pookkalam Varavayi, Unnikrishnante Adyathe Christmas, Ulladakkam, Aayushkalam, Ghazal, Mazhayethum Munpe, Azhakiya Ravanan, Ee Puzhayum Kadannu, Krishnagudiyil Oru Pranayakalathu, Gramaphone, Swapnakoodu, Manjupole Oru Penkutty, Perumazhakkalam, Meghamalhar, Niram, etc.
Kamal has been held in high esteem by his peers. He is also serving as the executive member of the Kerala Chalachitra Academy. He has won many awards and honors and his film Ulladakkam won Filmfare award and was featured in Indian Panorama.
