Kaka Bhaniawala Biography

Kaka Bhaniawala was a very popular Punjabi singer from the state of Punjab. Bani – is the name of the village which belonged to add, and hence he added ‘Bhaniawala’ as tag to his name. Born in 1971, he died at a comparatively young age of 38 in Ludhiana, while he was at the peak of his professional singing career. He was working on his solo independent album then, and the album is yet to release. He was also known by the name Kaka on stage, given by his mother. In 2014 and 2017, years after his death, two of his albums were released posthumously titled - Desi Quiz and Naina Di Lishkari, and a few of the singles were also released almost at the same time.

 

His birth name is Santokh Singh Rataurh. He hailed from Bhani, Punjab, born in the year 1971. Initially he got only limited success through the albums and singles he released during the early phase of his career. Vadia Sharabia – was one of his early albums. He gained recognition only after he moved to UK where he established as a major Punjabi voice. His Bhangra single "Sahnevaal Chounk" made him an overnight sensation. It was the title track of the album - Word Is Born which became the most popular one. There was no turning back after that and he gained recognition as a Bhangra singer in the 2000s.

 

After the success of his single he worked with many music producers. He has collaborated with Tigerstyle and many other hit brands and artists to give some memorable music of the time. Bhaniawala had died of jaundice from liver failure in Ludhiana on April 12, 2009. He was addicted to alcohol which became a cause of his death at a young age.
