Kadiyam Srihari Biography

Kadiyam Srihari is an Indian politician and former parliamentarian from Telangana. He currently serves as Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister of Telangana State. He was also a parliamentarian representing Warangal in 2014 and 2015, before he moved to state level politics. He has been elected to state assembly multiple times and has served as MLA and cabinet minister too. He currently is associated with Telangana Rashtra Samithi party and is its politburo member. He was the minister of Marketing, Social Welfare, Education and Irrigation (at different points of time) under the Cabinet of Nara Chandrababu Naidu. PolitBureau member of Telugu Desam Party, and the General Secretary of Telugu Desam Party are other major positions held by him within state politics.

Kadiyam Srihari was born in Parvathagiri, a village in the Warangal district on 8 July 1952. His school education was done at Warangal, and completed his M. Sc from Osmania University, Hyderabad in 1975. He was into banking field and teaching before he joined active politics. He was a manager for Syndicate Bank in Nizamabad soon after completing his Master’s degree in 1975. He served for two years. Then he joined teaching field and worked as a junior lecturer between 1977 and 1987. After that he formally joined politics, and has spent more than three decades in the field till now.

He was asked by Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao to join the Telugu Desam Party. That’s why he quit his profession as a lecturer and joined politics. He served as Chairman for Kakatiya Urban Development Authority, Warangal in 1988. He won state assembly elections for the first time in 1994 from Station Ghanpur constituency, and after that got elected to legislative assembly multiple times.
