K. Vasuki Biography 
K. Vasuki is an IAS officer from Tamil Nadu, who currently serves as the district collector of Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. She is also a physician. Doctor-turned-IAS officer is quite popular among the masses for the reforms she took in the recent years, to make our nature eco-friendly. Her tireless efforts in flood relief campaign during 2018 Kerala floods also made her a very popular figure among common man. Her name had come out during the National Games when Kerala followed a green protocol, the same year she joined service in Kerala. She is married to Dr. S. Karthikeyan, an IAS officer, and this IAS couple has set examples for many, and became role model in waste management. Theirs was a love marriage.
Vasuki was born into a middle class family of Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Her growing years were spent in Chennai and Andhra Pradesh. She was quite moved by the poverty and undernourished kids of the society, which prompted her to become a doctor. She later completed her medical studies and pursued her career as a doctor for social service, before she turned on to the new mission to help common man. After completing her medical studies, she worked in a government hospital in Chennai.
In those days, she realized that to solve some major problems in the society, a medical degree is not sufficient. Poverty and poor living conditions of the children in wards touched her a lot. She realized that alcoholic husbands create a lot of problems at home, and their wives work hard to earn a living and bring up her kids. At first she thought of joining some NGO to work for them. Later she decided to join IAS, as it provided a good platform to work for poor sectors of the society. Yet she was aware that there are many corrupt officers in the society. So Vasuki and S. Karthikeyan turned IAS officers and moved to Kerala, where they are currently working.
