K. Sivasankar Biography 
K. Sivasankar is a choreographer and actor, who predominantly works in Tamil movies. He also works in Telugu and Bollywood films. Sivasankar won the National Film Award for Best Choreography for his outstanding work of Magadheera (2008), and Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Choreographer four times since 1996.
He wanted to enter the film industry as a singer, but ended up as a choreographer. He got happy when he was given a chance to act. Though he has acted in just ten films, people recognise him wherever he goes. Till now he has done the choreography for 800 films belonging to different languages. He choreographed movies in all the South Indian languages and in Hindi, Bengali, Tulu, Oriya and also a Japanese film. As an actor his best performance so far is in the Tamil film Onbathu Roobai Notu.
K. Sivasankar is popularly called Sivasankar Master in his film profession by his colleagues and students. Initially he wanted to become a singer. He joined film industry as a choreographer in the 1990s and rose to fame in the 2000s. By that time, he began his acting career as well. He played the role of a dance master in 2003 film, Alai marking his acting career and did similar kind of brief roles later.
As a choreographer he earned recognition for the first time through 1996 film, Poove Unakkaga which earned him Tamil Nadu state award. He later won Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Choreographer for Vishwa Thulasi (2003), Varalaru (2006) and Uliyin Osai (2008). Sivasankar won the National Film Award for Best Choreography for Telugu blockbuster, Magadheera (2008).
He was awarded an honorary doctorate from New International Christian University, Bangalore in 2013. Marupadiyum, Arunthathi (Drum Dance), Thiruda Thirudi (Manmatha Rasa), Varalaru (Innisai Alapadaiye - traditional) and Magadheera (Telugu) are some of his outstanding choreographed pieces.
