K. P. Jagan Biography

K. P. Jagan is a film actor and director from Tamil film industry. He started his film career as a director in the year 2003, and later moved to acting roles. He has directed 4 Tamil films and scripted one movie, while he acted in more than a dozen of feature films. Pudhiya Geethai, Kodambakkam and Raman Thediya Seethai are the three Tamil movies which he directed. The hit film - Mayandi Kudumbathar in 2009 marked his acting debut, and the movie written and directed by Rasu Madhuravan starred 10 Tamil film directors including Jagan. After the success of his debut flick, Jagan later accepted several character roles.

 

He is also known as Jagannaath and K. P. Jagannath in the film industry. He marked his directorial debut with Pudhiya Geethai in 2003 starring Vijay, Meera Jasmine and Amisha Patel in lead roles. Esha Deol was to play one of the two female leads, but later replaced by Patel. The movie opened to mixed reviews and was a box office flop. His second directorial venture was Kodambakkam (2006). The film starring Nandha and Diya too failed to create an impact in box office, though it received good reviews. His third movie was Raman Thediya Seethai released in 2009, starring Cheran as male lead. The film flopped at box office. However the performance of Pasupathy got noticed.

 

In 2009 he marked his acting debut with Mayandi Kudumbathar. After the film’s success, he continued doing character roles on big screen. In fact he completely switched over from film direction to acting for almost 9 years, till he made his fourth film, En Aaloda Seruppa Kaanom in 2017. This film too flopped at box office. Nagaraja Cholan MA MLA, Kandupidi Kandupidi, Sutrula, Kangaroo, Chithirayil Nilachoru, Ambuli etc are some of the movies in which he acted.
