K. M. Radha Krishnan Biography

K. M. Radha Krishnan is a popular music composer from Salem Tamil Nadu, who composes songs for Telugu movies. An expert in Carnatic and Hindustani music and known for traditional tunes, he gave memorable compositions to Telugu movies - Anand, Godavari and Chandamama. He has also composed ad jingles and devotional songs apart from filmy music. His recent works include - Manasu Palike Mouna Raagam, Bhale Dongalu, Baladur, Siddu from Sikakulam etc. His 2006 movie Godavari earned Nandi Award for Best Music Director. He has also written a few lyrics, done background score and has ventured into playback singing as well.

 

Born in Salem, his childhood days were spent in hometown and Coimbatore. His father KV Mohan is a noted singer who has performed in live shows and has also worked for All India Radio since 1970s. His father is also a stage actor, who has completed over 5000 stage shows. In the teens Radha Krishnan settled in Hyderabad where he completed diploma in Hyderabad Music College. He has also learnt Hindustani and western music. He later worked in NSE as a sub-broker for two years before his foray to music industry. In the childhood he wanted to become a singer as his father, but he later recognized that music composition is his right field.

 

When he decided to join film industry as a music composer, he got an offer from Sunil Kumar Reddy to do background score for his upcoming flick - ‘Silence Please’ in 2000. As a music director, he got his first break in the year 2002 for the Telugu film - Hero. His second Telugu release – Anand received good reviews from critics and with Nandi award winning Godavari in 2006, he became an established music director of the industry.
