K. Kunhambu Biography 
K. Kunhambu was a freedom fighter, teacher and social activist from North Malabar, Kerala. He was one of the active participants of Quit India Movement of 1942 in North Malabar. After Indian independence he worked as a teacher and social reformer. He worked as a teacher in Gandhi Seva Sadan, Perur – the school established by Gandhian and freedom fighter K. Kumaran and also worked for Bhoodan Movement started by Vinoba Bhave.
Influenced by the ideology of Vinoba Bhave, he also participated Bhoodan Movement, which aimed to distribute the land of rich people to land less poor peasants and needy. When this movement caught attention nationwide, Kunhambu actively participated in the movement and worked for the landless people of the remote areas of Bihar. He also participated in Mr Sankara Rao's Kerala Bhoodana Padayaathra, once he returned back from Bihar.
He was born on 2 July 1919 in Panoor. During the 1930s he was in his teens. As a student he felt that he can do many things for the betterment of the Kerala society, then known for caste and creed discrimination and different layers of social beings. He joined Congress party during those days and also participated in freedom struggle movement. In 1939, after passing 8th standard he started his career as a school teacher. As an active member of Congress, he promoted Khadi movement in Malabar that time.
In the early 1940s he took up the role of a revolutionary activist and also participated in quit India Movement in Malabar region. He was arrested and sentenced for two months imprisonment. Once he got released from jail he worked as a social worker as a member of Grama Seva Sangham. He also took great efforts in Cholera Relief Activities, following the monsoon season of 1943.
