K. Bhaskaran Biography 
K. Bhaskaran is an Indian Flautist or Bansuri player from Mylapore, Chennai, who follows Carnatic tradition. Mayavaram Saraswathi Ammal was his guru. He started learning this musical instrument since the age of 10. He has been accompanied by several renowned Carnatic musicians such as M.S. Anantharaman, A. Kanyakumari, Umayalpuram K Sivaraman, T. V. Gopalakrishnan, Guruvayur Dorai etc. He is an 'A' graded radio artiste, who has performed several times on national radio and television. He has done a lot of research on the use of computers in music, and has created a mathematical model for the creation of Kalpanaswara through software. He also developed a computer program for the same. He has received two fellowships from the Department of Culture in 1992 and 2002.
K. Bhaskaran hails from Chennai, Tamil Nadu. He was born on 30 April 1961 to Lakshmi Krishnamurthi and K. Krishnamurthi in Mylapore. He was formally introduced to flute at the age of 10, and received initial training from Mayavaram Saraswathi Ammal. Before that he received initial guidance from his family also. He gave his first public concert at the Madras Music Academy at the age of 17, and since then he has performed in 100s of concerts in India and abroad. He has performed as a solo artist, collaborator as well as accompany for his stage concerts.
He has been playing concerts in Chennai circuit and famous Madras Music Academy since 1978 during the annual Madras Music Season. He gave his first concert in USA in 1993-1994. Apart from his successful career as a flautist, he is into software field for the past two decades, and has always tried to provide a link between the two fields. He also holds a patent for an improved Murukku (a type of south Indian snack) making machine.
