Justin Prabhakaran Biography

Justin Prabhakaran is an upcoming music director associated with Malayalam and Tamil cinema. He shot to fame after composing the songs of Malayalam hit – Kunjiramayanam (2015), which included chartbuster hits like “Salsa”,"Thumba Poove Sundari", "Ayyayyo Ayyayyo" and "Paavaada". Prior to entering Malayalam cinema, Justin has worked in a few Tamil films as film score and soundtrack composer.  Pannaiyarum Padminiyum in 2014 marked his film debut as an independent music director, followed by Orange Mittai. This promising young music scorer has a series of Tamil projects in pipeline – Ulkuthu, Oru Naal Koothu, Raasa Manthiri, Adamum Applegalum and Rettai Sudar. Apart from being a music composer, he has also penned lyrics for a few songs and even done playback singing for one song for his debut flick - Pannaiyarum Padminiyum.

 

Justin is a resident of Madhurai. Since childhood days, he got attached to music and he was a keyboard player of his church choir. He also participated in a television show, for which he won as a composer for his own composed tune. Apart from keyboard, he also plays guitar. He completed graduation in Zoology from American College, Madurai and it was during his college days in Madhurai in 2006, he happened to meet cinematographer Gopinath. His advice to study sound engineering from M.G.R. Film & TV Institute, Chennai proved to be the turning point of his musical journey.

 

While studying at M.G.R. Film & TV Institute in Tharamani, he got frequently associated with the annual cultural event, Tamil thendral which helped him to work as an assistant of ace music composer Harris Jayaraj for the movie, Thuppakki. As a music composer, he started off with short films and has done more than 55 films so far. Pannaiyarum Padminiyum marked his debut as a composer, lyricist as well as singer. He rendered his voice for the song - Pesuren Pesuren and wrote lyrics for "Enga Ooru Vandi", “Paaraai”,Aaraaro” and "Kadhal Vandhaacho". He also penned lyrics for one song - Theeradhey Asaigal for Orange Mittai.
