Jude Anthany Joseph Biography

Jude Anthany Joseph is a promising young director of Malayalam who shot to fame after his debut movie – Ohm Shanti Osana released in 2014. This movie, released in February was the first commercial hit in Malayalam for the year 2014. The movie stars Nivin Pauly and Nazriya Nazim in leading characters and Aju Varghese and Vineeth Sreenivasan in supporting roles and it is the story of a teenage love of a young girl of tomboyish character to a guy much older to her and how she carries it for more than a period of one decade.

The movie gives an interesting ride from the year 1983 – the day which lead character Pooja Mathew was born to the time till now, presenting many nostalgic moments to its audience. Definitely the movie is a lovely treat to all who cherishes old school days, college days and romance. The movie also showed in an interesting way, many lovely moments of the past that can be easily connected to the audience, like Hrithik Roshan’s fame post Kaho na pyar hai and music of Dil chahta hai, lovely woven with lead actress’ teenage and love. The movie was a huge hit at box office, received warmly by critics and also remembered as best role of Nazriya Nazim till now, who played the central role.

Jude was born in Athani, Kochi in 1983. After B Tech in Electronics and telecommunication he worked in Infosys as a software engineer in Bangalore for a while. In those days, actor Nivin Pauley was his colleague and later they together worked in his debut movie, Om Shanti Oshana. Jude started his film journey as an assistant director with Dileep starrer Crazy Gopalan in 2008. He later worked under Vineeth Sreenivasan Malarvaadi Arts Club (2010) and Thattathin Marayathu (2012) and made his short film Yellow Pen in 2012 with Aju Varghese in the main lead. He worked with both these actors in his debut movie as a director.

He also released a short film on Mammootty’s life - "Mammookka's Biography" in 2014, just during the release of his debut movie. Now Jude is planning to make his acting debut with an upcoming flick. He received National Geography Channel Award for one of his short films.
