Jolly Bastian Biography

Jolly Bastian is a stunt master who works in south Indian film industry. He also runs an event management and orchestra group named 24 Events. He is the lead singer of the orchestra group. As an action choreographer, some of his best known works include - Aramane, Gaalipata, Putnanja, Annayya, Nattukku Oru Nallavan, Super Ranga, Shyloo, Silence, Bangalore Days, Crazy Star etc. Till now he has 858 films to his credit, and has worked with almost all leading actors and action directors of the industry. He has also served as chief of Karnataka Stunt Directors and Professionals Association.

 

Jolly was born on 24 September 1966 in Alappuzha, Kerala. He was brought up in Bangalore. His father and grandfather were mechanic technicians. Jolly too started his career as a mechanic. He was a passionate wheelie on his bike, and his interests were noticed by a filmmaker who introduced him to Kannada film industry as a stuntman. Initially he worked as a bike stuntman and dupe in Kannada film industry, before he established himself as a stuntman.

 

In Kannada super hit film, Premaloka, released in 1987, he played the dupe of V. Ravichandran who impressed the heroine Juhi Chawla through his bike stunts. It was his debut film and he was only 17 years old then. Since then he has spent more than three decades in the industry and established himself as a stuntman. He put his life in risk and struggled a lot during his initial years, and made a name of himself in the industry.

 

As an action director, his dream came true through Ravinchandran’s Putnanja. The film was a super hit and he started receiving more film offers. Very soon he could walk into any shooting location without giving self-introduction.
