Jitu Vaghani Biography

Jitu Vaghani is an Indian politician belonging to Bharatiya Janata Party. He hails from Gujarat, and currently serves as an MLA representing Bhavnagar West in Gujarat Legislative Assembly. He has been appointed as the new Gujarat BJP president in August 2016 and holding the post till now. A two-time BJP MLA of Gujarat, he failed in his first election, when he contested in 2007 state assembly elections from Bhavnagar south. He entered state assembly for the first time in 2012 from Bhavnagar Pashchim defeating his opponent Mansukhbhai Kanani, and has retained the same seat in 2017 state assembly elections too.

His full name is Jitendra Savjibhai Vaghani. He was born on 27 October 1970 in Bhavnagar, Gujarat. Savjibhai Vaghani and Manjulaben Vaghani are his parents, and he is married to Sangeeta Vaghani. The couple has one son. Apart from his stint in social life and politics, he is also into construction business and agriculture. He is a successful businessman too. Jitu’s active entry to politics happened just one decade ago at age 35+, when he unsuccessfully contested Gujarat state assembly elections from Bhavnagar south. He was defeated by Shaktisinh Gohil, a senior congress politician.

After that he slowly gained foot in politics, and succeeded in next two state assembly elections too, winning both from Bhavnagar Pashchim constituency on BJP ticket. He was also appointed as Gujarat BJP president in August 2016, and he has successfully completed the position two years. He belongs to the powerful Patel community, and was a relatively young Patel face of BJP, when he was given this power. He has earlier served as state unit's youth wing president and secretary of the party state unit in the past.
