Jeet Upendra Biography

Jeet Upendra is a noted film actor known for supporting roles. He appears in south Indian films apart from Hindi films. He gained attention for the first time playing Mammootty’s younger brother – Johny Walker, a Malayalam blockbuster of 1992. It’s his most prominent film role up-to-date. The evergreen duet song, “Poo maariyil” was pictured on him. He was also seen in the foot tapping number, "Shanthamee Ratriyil" sung by Yesudas. Before that he shared screen space with actor Aamir Khan for the movie, Afsana Pyaar Ka in 1991. Though Jeet has not been quite successful on Hindi big screen, he gained popularity through small screen roles, apart from Gujarati films in the recent times. He was formerly married to model-actress Deepshika Nagpal and the couple had two children.

He was born and brought up in Mumbai. He started his career in the mid-1980s and has appeared in Gujarati, Hindi and Malayalam movies. Made his film debut in 1985, he has completed three decades in the entertainment industry. He starred in several direct-to-video films during the 1980’s including Scandal, Shahadat, Jazira, Abhishek, Don 2 and Naqli Chehra, and got the first major breakthrough Afsana Pyaar Ka in 1991. He also played parallel lead in Baharon Ke Manzil the same year. Danga Fasaad, Lakhi Durga Saraswati, Afsana Pyaar Ka, Humne Pyar Kiya and Panaah are other noted roles. He became very popular playing Mammootty’s younger brother in Johny Walker.

Currently he is busy in Gujarati films, and plays lead roles. He bagged a nomination for best actor for the Gujarati film – Suhaag in 2014. His role as an angry young man in Gujarati film, Dil Dosti Aney Dushmani in 2012, Aatank opposite Kiran Acharya, Karam Kismat Ne Kudarat opposite Asha Panchal and Sajan Tara Vina Suni Jindagi opposite Marjina Diwan are other noted roles. He married noted model and actress of Koyla fame, Deepshika Nagpal in 1997. Due to personal indifferences, they separated once. A couple of months after their daughter’s birth, they got back together. But following frequent fights and they finally got divorced after the birth of their son. Thus they ended their 10-year old marriage in 2007. Deepshika is currently married to her co-star Kaishav Arora since 2012.
