Jeet Gannguli Biography

Jeet Gannguli is the stage name of Chandrajeet Ganguly from West Bengal. He is a music composer and playback singer associated with Bollywood cinema. He has also worked in Bengali cinema. He is popularly known by the name Jeet. He was one among the composers of Bollywood musical – Aashique 2 released in 2013. The movie accumulated all leading music awards of the year including Filmfare award for best music. Gannguli made his debut as a music composer through the Bollywood film, Tere Liye in 2001. He composed songs of the movie aside another Bengali composer Pritam. He shot to fame the following year composing the songs of Yash Raj Films’ Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai aside Pritam. All the songs were well-noticed and the item song pictured on Shamita Shetty – Sharara Sharara was an instant chartbuster. Since then he solely composes music for films. He is a leading music director of Bengali film industry.

 

Apart from composing single tracks for several Bollywood films, he worked extensively for Bollywood projects such as CityLights, Raaz 3 (Except Deewana kar Raha Hai), Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi, Morning Walk etc. Apart from these movies, he has composed some melodious songs for Aashique 2 - "Chahun Main Ya Naa", "Milne Hai Mujhse Aayi", "Hum Mar Jayenge", "Piya Aaye Na","Bhula Dena" and "Aasan Nahin Yahan". He composed 6 out of the 10 songs of the film, and was its major composer. As guest composers, Mithoon and Ankit Tiwari composed two songs each.

 

A few more noted Bollywood songs of Jeet are Chhote Chhote Tamashe and Tum Bin of Sanam Re, Title track of Hamari Adhuri Kahani, Baatein Ye Kabhi Na and title track of Khamoshiyan, Chand Aasmano Se Laapata of Alone, Suno Na Sangemarmar of Youngistan and a few more. He also scores for TV serials and jingles. He made his acting debut in Bengali through the 2004 film, Premi. Bandhan in 2004 marked his debut as a music composer in Bengali films, followed by Yuddho and Shubhodrishti in 2005. Some of his popular Bengali works include - Premer Kahini. Mon Mane Na, Amanush, Eri Naam Prem, Game, Refugee, I Love You, Tiger, Paglu, Awara, and Boss: Born to Rule, Besh Korechi Prem Korechi, Rangbaaz, Herogiri etc.

 

Chandrajeet Ganguly was born on February 10, 1977, in Mumbai.  He started his music journey at the age of three. Jeet was trained in classical music under his father, Kali Ganguly. He also received lessons from his aunt Shibani Roychowdhury. He later studied jazz, rock and western classical music. He schooled at Baranagore Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama High School in West Bengal and completed graduation from University of Calcutta.
