Jayshree Talpade Biography

Jayshree Talpade, also called Jayshree T is an Indian actress who works in different language films, mostly Bollywood and Marathi cinema. She has appeared in all south Indian languages as well as Oriya, Punjabi, Nepali, Bhojpuri, Assamese, Gujarati and Sindhi movies. She mostly appears in supporting roles. Born in 1953, she started her career at the age of 5 with the Bollywood movie, Goonj Uthi Shehnai released in 1958. 1968 movie Abhilasha marked her career as a dancer for Bollywood movies. For 1975 movie Resham Ki Dori, she was nominated for the Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Award.

Throughout 1960’s and 1970’s she appeared as dancer for more than 500 movies. She also appeared in supporting roles during this period. Aap Ki Kasam, Bidaai, Aafat and Anokha are the Bollywood movies of 1970’s in which she appeared in bit roles. Sawan Bhadon (1970) was one of her earliest movies noticed as a dancer in supporting role. She played the role of Mumtaz’s friend in Aap ki Kasam. She appeared in the role of courtesan in several movies during 1970’s. Now she appears in comic as well as serious roles. She has also performed on stage with leading Bollywood singers like Mohammad Rafi, Manna Dey, Mukesh and Asha Bhosle.

Her recent Bollywood appearances include successful movies like Hum saath saath hai and Chalte Chalte. In 2010, she appeared in one Malayalam movie - Annarakannanum Thannalayathu. Chameli ki shadi, Meri Biwi ki jawab nahin, Nastik, Sau din saas ke, Besharam, Madhosh, Raaz, Chanda aur bijlee, Jaani Dushman, Namak Haram and Ghar ho to aise are other Bollywood appearances. She is married to film director Jayprakash Karnataki, brother of film actress Nanda. They got married in the year 1989 and a son was born to them two years later. Now she is active in small screen also.

During 1970’s she has been one of the leading dancers of silver screen. Naach meri jaan phataphat from Main Sundar hoon (1971), Reshmi ujala hai from Sharmilee (1971) and Sultana Sultana from Tarana (1979) are the popular songs pictured on her.
