Jayaprakash Radhakrishnan Biography

Jayaprakash Radhakrishnan is a film actor and director associated with south Indian films. He is best known for his works in Tamil movies. After playing brief roles in a few Tamil films, he marked his directorial debut with 2016 highly acclaimed Malayalam-Tamil bilingual film, Lens. The movie was scripted and directed by Jayaprakash, who also played the lead of Arvind in this film. His character Arvind had some grade shades throughout the film, and his role was well appreciated. The meaty role as an emotionally intense Yohan with grey shades was portrayed by theater artist, Anand Sami who marked his big screen debut with the film. Majority of the scenes were shot on these two actors, often shot as debate or argument, and those these roles were praised by critics.

Before the release of Lens in 2016, Jayaprakash was known to Tamil audience through the supporting roles he played in Malayalam-Tamil bilingual Urumi and also Yennai Arindhaal. A hostage drama set in video-chat rooms, the theme of Lens has never been explored on Tamil screen before. For its explicit content and violence, the movie was passed by Censor certificate with an ‘A’ certificate. The movie made in multiple languages including English for international circuit received highly positive response from critics. The movie was also shown at different international film festivals. It was released as a mix of Malayalam, Tamil and English languages for Indian audiences, and dubbed in a few versions too.

Jayaprakash is a software engineer by profession. He hit upon this idea of Lens – movie when he was talking to a teacher over Skype. During his s/w career days in US, he enrolled for an acting course and he realized that film is his real passion rather than coding. He scripted Lens after a break, when he moved back to India.
