Jayanta Meher Biography 
Jayanta Meher is an artist from Orissa popular for her Odisha Pattachitra Paintings. He is also a national award winner for his contributions towards the field. He won the Master Craftsman National Award in the year 2001, and has conducted his exhibitions in many places in India and abroad. All members of his family are well-known artists, and associated with art for many generations. Jayanta Meher is the younger son of famous artist Padmashree Kailash Chandra Meher and his wife Laxmi Meher. He has two siblings - Prakash Meher and Manisha Meher, and all are dedicated to the field of Odisha Pattachitra Paintings.
Jayanta Meher was born on 13 June 1986 in Subarnapur District of Odisha into a family of artists. Following the tradition of his family, he learnt the art of painting from his parents - Kailash Chandra Meher and Laxmi Meher. He started learning at the age of 10. Carrying forward family tradition, he is most successful among the three siblings. He won the Master Craftsman National Award in the year 2001. Kailash Chandra Meher, his wife Laxmi Meher, daughter Manisha and his both sons Prakash and Jayanta are also recipients of National awards in different years, for the same field of painting. Laxmi and Manisha Meher won it jointly in the year 2005.
His father worked with government of India as a designer and artist. Jayanta Kumar Meher is the younger son of Kailash Chandra Meher. He was inclined towards the arts at a very young age. Most of his leisure was spent on painting. A National awardee, now he has decided to impart training on painting to poor and destitute ladies to establish them as self-dependent. His parents too have started many social organisations for girls and women of rural areas through which they were given training and employment.
