Jayan Cherthala Biography

Jayan Cherthala is a noted actor associated with Malayalam mini screen. He has also played a few character roles on Malayalam big screen such as John Paul Vaathil Thurakkunnu (2014), Ghost Villa (2016), Apothecary (2014) and Utopiayile Rajavu (2015). He is most noted for playing supporting and negative shaded roles on screen. Jayan is associated with Malayalam film industry since 2002 and is a dubbing artist. He played more than a hundred character roles on big screen and played his first lead role in ‘Maanasaandarapetta Yezdi’ (2016). The film was directed by the debutant director Arun Omana Sadanandan. Jayan referred his cousin Meera Muralidharan to small screen for the television series, Snehatheeram, in 2011 and now she is a popular actress among Malayali audience.

Jayan hails from Cherthala of Alappuzha district. He was born on 21 March, 1971, in Cherthala. His father, Jayan R. Nair is a Malayalam dramatist and writer. Jayan is married to Jaya Sree. He made his film debut in the year 2002 through the film - ‘Kakki Nakshatram’ starring Nishant Sagar. He was seen in a minor role in the movie. After playing less significant roles during his early days, he got some good roles since early 2010s. At present he is a well-known figure of Malayalam film industry.

He portrayed character roles for more than 100 films which include ‘Paul Vaathil Thurakkunnu’, ‘Apothecary’, ‘Dhanayatra’, ‘Beautiful’, ‘Nallavan’, ‘Swargathekkal Sundaram’, ‘The King & the Commissioner’,’ Ghost Villa’ etc. He got his first lead role in 2016 - ‘Maanasaandarapetta Yezdi’. He shared screen space with P. Balachandran, Indrans, Appunni Sasi, and Sivadas Mattannur for this film which belongs to comedy genre.
