Javed Riaz Biography

Javed Riaz is a young music composer associated with Tamil film industry, best known for his recent work, Maanagaram released in 2017. He made his film debut in 2016 composing songs for a segment of anthology film, Aviyal. Both the movie and this segment were directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. Ra Ra Rajasekhar is his third and most recent release, and the movie was directed by Balaji Sakthivel. In the past two years, he has composed music for three films, and has earned a space in Tamil film industry.

 

Javed Riaz hails from Villupuram, Tamil Nadu. Before he joined film industry, he has composed music for several short films. He also plays keyboard and guitar. His greatest inspiration is A. R. Rahman. He is also inspired by the worksof Illayaraja and M. S. Viswanathan. His work in short films earned him appreciation, and an opening call for a Malayalam film, Kadalasu Puli. He worked as a freelance music composer during his early days. He completed computer engineering from Crescent Engineering College, Chennai before he forayed into the world of music. He was associated with a local band, “Paradigm Shift” during his college days which gave him the platform and confidence to enter the world of music.

 

Though he completed his BE course in Computer, he chose music as his path. His family members have always been supportive to take music as his professional career. He has one brother too, who supported him very much. He started his film journey in 2016 with the anthology film Avial, where he composed songs for the segment directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. It was Lokesh’s maiden venture as a director, and when he directed Maanagaram – his first full-fledged film, he chose Javed once again for composing music. It was the debut work of cinematographer Selvakumar too.
