Javed Khan (actor) Biography

Javed Khan is a noted actor of Bollywood and a very popular actor on small screen, best known for playing the pivot role of Tej Singh in the most popular Doordarshan fantasy series of 1990s – Chandrakanta. He was seen as the friend of Prince Virendra Singh in the series. He shot to stardom following this television series aired on Doordarshan in the mid-1990s. He launched an acting-fashion academy in 2004 - Glamour Zone-Javed Khan's academy of Acting and Modelling in Bhopal. Appeared in a few Bollywood movies, he was seen in a brief role in Raja ki Aayegi Baraat – one of the earliest releases of Rani Mukerji

His full name is Javed Yaqub Khan born on 24 March 1962 in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. His father was a criminal lawyer and his mother belonged to a royal family. Javed khan studied at the Film and Television Institute of India soon after graduation and has been a model before entering television. He did his first modelling assignment while doing first year graduation at St. Xavier's College, Mumbai. Javed was spotted by the director Shyam Benegal who offered him the first ad – for Colgate toothpaste. Later he worked with top names of the ad world such as Zafar Hai, Pradeep Kakkad and Kailash Surendranath, and has appeared in the ads of Gold Spot, Bombay Dyeing, Arvind Mills, Nescafe and many others. He walked on ramps for many fashion designers.

After his course with FTII, he has done modelling assignments for Femina, Eves Weekly, S. Kumars, Vimal, Bombay Dyeing etc. He has walked with all leading ramp models - Vimla Patil, Salome and Nazir Mitha, Shanti and Sangeeta Chopra. Apradhi Kaun – was his debut Bollywood movie. Yet it was television that earned him name and fame. His role as Tej Singh, in Chandrakanta is widely regarded as one of the great heroes played on Indian mini screen.
