Jaspreet Jasz Biography

Jaspreet Jasz is an Indian playback singer and performer who gained recognition through India’s most popular singing talent hunt show – Indian Idol, aired on Sony Television Network. Apart from Bollywood he is also associated with Telugu film industry as a playback singer. In 2009 he got opportunity to sing for the theme of A. R. Rahman’s Bollywood film – Blue. Later he sung ‘Dost Hai’ for the movie, Ek Deewana Tha for Rahman. Main Senti Hoon of Mere Dad Ki Maruti, Kal Kare So Aaj Kar of Table No. 21 etc are other noted Bollywood songs. He is regularly associated with composer Devi Sri Prasad for Telugu film songs.

 

In 2012 he got opportunity to perform at 2012 London Olympics. He performed the Punjabi song - Nimma nimma hans de tu jogiya, composed by A. R. Rahman in the grand opening of the sports extravaganza. He also penned Punjabi lyrics for the song, which literally means - 'Smile a little, you fighter'. Though he is a Punjabi Sikh by birth, it’s the first ever song he got to sing in his mother tongue. The song was included in a medley of songs for the show. He believes in the versatility of singing.

 

He was born in Delhi. He studied at a Christian school in Delhi, and also trained in gospel singing and R&B. He also practised with guitar and harmonium during his childhood. He was the lead vocalist of his school band and has won many competitions. After his studies, he moved to Mumbai and participated in Indian Idol. Bollywood film, Dil Kabaddi marked his singing debut with the song – Ehsaan. He later sung for Blue, Sahi Dhandhe Galat Bande, Will You Marry Me, Hide & Seek, Oh Teri etc, apart from Telugu film songs and a few commercials.
