Janardhanan Biography

Janardhanan is an accomplished, highly talented and very popular character artist of Malayalam cinema, mostly known for portraying comic roles. He is one of the popular ‘targets’ of Malayalam mimicry artists and his dialogues of Mannar Mathai speaking (1995) are still very popular among audiences. Though he started his career playing villain roles and became successful too, he gained more fans as a comedy and character artist. There is a common myth spread in Malayalam field that, if the first shot of a movie is taken with this actor, the movie will become a super hit and there have been many instances to prove this fact. As a villain, Kathodu Kathoram is his acclaimed work. Meleparambil Aanveedu (1993) and Mannar Mathai speaking (1995) are his masterpiece works as a comedian.

Since his career beginning, his voice made him a star among the character artists. But when he started his film career he was advised by a film director to learn voice modulation as his voice was not good. He was advised to see the artist Madhu, graduate from NSD to seek advice. But Madhu advised him not to change his voice as he believed that one’s voice is his own personality. He gave positive thoughts to the actor that one day will come when the whole world will accept his voice. It proved true too and his distinct voice made him the master of comedies.

He was born in Vaikom in 1996. He started his career in the 1970’s doing villain roles. 1988 film ‘Oru CBI Diary Kurippu’ proved to be the turning point of his career when he got noticed for the comic roles. 1993 film Meleparambil Aanveedu and Mannar Mathai speaking (1995) made him an established comedian of Mollywood. With the movie Punjabi House starring Dileep and Mohini he played the role of a Sikh person and there are he has portrayed similar roles onscreen.  Pingami, CID Unnikrishnan B.A., B.Ed, Parvathy Parinayam, Thacholi Varghese Chekavar, Aadyathe Kanmani, 2 Harihar Nagar, Nadodi mannan, Chronic Bachelor, Sethurama Iyer CBI, Maya Mayuram and Devasuram are among his noted roles.
