Jagmeet Bal Biography

Jagmeet Bal is a popular music video director mostly known for his traditional and religious Punjabi music videos. His popular videos are Yaarian and Mittran Ne (Surjit Bindrakhia), Khalsa (Nachattar Gill), Honsla (Neha Nagpal), Ni Main Paani, Lakare and Do Cheeja Jatt Mangda (Pammi Bai) and Indian Munde (Gary Hothi). He has also been associated with videos of social causes. Most recently he shot a video on the sensitive issue of female foeticide and wrote its script as well. Through his music videos based on Punjabi traditional culture, he has contributed a lot to traditional Punjab.

 

Jagmeet Bal was born on December 13, 1972 in Chandigarh, Punjab, in a Sikh family. He completed matriculation from Government Model High School, Chandigarh and then studied at Senior Secondary School. He showed deep interest in fine arts since childhood. So, after schooling he took degree in Fine Arts from Punjab University and moved to Mumbai to pursue his dreams to join film industry. Jagmeet started his career as an Assistant Director in Zee TV in 1994. Through his talent, he became a director very soon. Later Jagmeet moved to the music video industry as he wanted to experiment with his creativity.

 

Among the popular artists he worked with, Gurdas Maan, Harshdeep Kaur, Surjit Bindrakhia, Pammi Bai, Jazzy B, Malkit Singh, Hans Raj Hans, Bhagwant Mann and Sardool Sikander are the leading names. Bal has given his distinct fingerprints he made on traditional Punjabi culture as well as devotional Sikh songs. Music video director Jagmeet Bal, along with his wife Simran Kaur produced a film called Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, a musical inspirational comedy for kids. The story was scripted by Simran while it’s directed by Bal.
