Jagdambika Pal Biography

Jagdambika Pal is an Indian politician and a three-time Lok Sabha member from the state of Uttar Pradesh, affiliated to Bharatiya Janata Party. He currently serves as a parliamentarian in the 16th Lok Sabha headed by Narendra Modi. He was a leader of Indian National Congress till 2014 general elections. He quit Congress and joined BJP and successfully contested 2014 general elections. He has also served as an MP in 15^th Lok Sabha, affiliated to Indian National Congress. All India Indira Congress (Tiwari) and Akhil Bharatiya Loktantrik Congress are his other political affiliations, with which he has been associated long ago.

Jagdambika Pal was born on 21 October 1950 in Bharvaliya, Uttar Pradesh. His hometown belongs to Basti district now. He started his political career in association with Indian National Congress. After his long-term association with the party, he quit and joined Bharatiya Janata Party to successfully contest in two consecutive terms. He has also associated with regional fractions of Congress Party before. Started off his political career with INC, later he joined All India Indira Congress (Tiwari) of N. D. Tiwari, and in 1997, he formed Akhil Bharatiya Loktantrik Congress along with Naresh Agarwal, Rajeev Shukla and Shyam Sunder Sharma. He also served as minister of transport in Kalyan Singh government.

He later became the president of the Uttar Pradesh state unit of the Indian National Congress, and joined Lok Sabha for the first time in 2009 contesting from Siddharthnagar district, Uttar Pradesh. He is also an educationalist who started Surya Baksha Pal Girls Inter College and Surya Baksha Pal Post Graduate Degree College at Bankati, Basti district. Currently he serves his third term as parliamentarian.
