Ivan Rodrigues Biography

Ivan Rodrigues is an accomplished theatre artist from Mumbai, who is a seasoned Bollywood actor too. He was seen in supporting roles in Bollywood films such as Mom, Shamitabh, Satyagragh, Kuch Kuch Locha Hai, Commando 2, Dear Zindagi, Jagga Jasoos, Dil Dhadkane Do, Sultan, Tiger Zinda Hai and many other noted films. Hichki is his upcoming flick, and he played ‘Principal’ roles in movies like Hichki, Mom etc, and regularly appears as an executive too. He also appears in TV Series, Web Series etc.

 

His full name is Ivan Sylvester Rodrigues. He was born on 23 November 1968 in Mumbai into a Christian family as the son of Robert and Nancy Rodrigues. Since school days he was associated with school and parish play. He later took theater as his profession and his first professional drama was Godspell directed by Joel Furtado and staged by St. Michael's Parish. He was brilliant at school studies too and completed his secondary school education in 1984. Later he completed his graduation and MBA in Marketing and took a corporate job. But he quit his job in 2009 after working for 18 years in the corporate world and pursued his dream to become a full-time actor.

 

He was extremely talented and fully active in theater during his school and college days. In fact during his final graduation year at Sydenham College, he won the awards for Best Play, Best Director and Best Actor for the play The Chairs at the prestigious Dr. S. K. Muranjan intra-college competition in 1989. After joining theatre in full swing in 2009, he marked his Bollywood debut with Satyagraha in 2012, and since then he has done a few memorable roles. He acted in the Rajya Sabha TV mini-series Samvidhaan, directed by Shyam Benegal and a few more.
