Ishita Arun Biography

Ishita Arun is a former VJ, model and film actress. She is the daughter of noted folk singer – actress Ila Arun. She made her film debut through Priyadarshan’s bilingual movie, Snehithaye, released in Malayalam and Tamil languages. She played the role of Gita, the arch rival of leading two actresses played by Jyothika and Sharbani Mukherjee. The movie was dubbed to Hindi titled Friendship. She also acted in a couple of Hindi movies – Stop and Kaha ho tum.

She made her first screen appearance at the age of 3. It was for a Vicks Vaporub ad for Doordarshan, where she appeared aside Jayant Kripalani. "Gale mein khich khich" ad was very popular in Doordarshan in the mid 1980’s. At the age of 9, she attended the theater workshop conducted by Nadira Babbar. She also appeared in a few television shows of Doordarshan at a younger age, the most notable one being Science Basics and Shyam Benegal’s Yatra.

In 1999, she appeared in the popular music video of Sonu Nigam, Bijuria from the album Mausam. The song was a huge hit and she got noticed. The following year she made her film debut through Tamil-Malayalam bilingual movie, Snehithaye. Though the movie was shot in both these languages, Malayalam version was released only in 2007. The movie earned her quick recognition and it’s noticed for the featuring of only female artists, except a corpse for a few shots, played by Mayor Ravi.

Though she acted in a couple of Bollywood movies later they were not at all successful. She also hosted a few television shows like Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Ek Main Aur Ek Tu aside Playback singer Shaan and Dil Jeetegi Desi Girl in 2010.
