Irai Anbu Biography 
Irai Anbu is an IAS officer from Tamil Nadu. He is an author too. A columnist, educator and motivational speaker, he is a popular figure in Tamil Nadu. He has served as sub-collector of Nagapattanam divison, and also held additional charge of Cuddalore district. He has done many administrative reforms during his tenure, and is best known for motivating youth for better tomorrow. Joint commissioner of Municipal Administration, Director of Information and Public relations, District collector of Kancheepuram, Additional Secretary of CM’s Secretariat, Secretary of Information and Tourism department etc are some of the major administrative positions held by him. He received Best Collector Award for small savings collection in 1998, and many more honours.
Venkatachalam Irai Anbu hails from Salem, Tamil Nadu. He belongs to a middle class family of a remote village, Kattur. He always aimed to live a purposeful life since his school days. His brother Thiruppugazh is also a civil servant. Irai Anbu followed the same suit. He completed his graduation in agriculture, and later completed post-graduation in four different subjects. He was a University topper in BSc Agriculture. In Civil Services Examinations conducted in 1987, he finished at 15th position, which was highest rank from the state of Tamil Nadu.
This civil servant completed three decades in government service since 1987-88, and held many prominent and elite positions as an administrator. He is also known for bringing many reforms and positive changes in the society, and remained a very popular personality among the masses. He has authored 82 books both in English and Tamil and his works include both fiction and non-fiction. He has personally guided more than 100 candidates to achieve high success in civil service exams.
