Ira Dubey Biography

Ira Dubey is a successful Hindi actress, who is associated with Bollywood films, TV shows as well as theater. She is the daughter of Lillete Dubey, well-known character artist of Bollywood films, apart from known for her contributions to Indian theatre. Her sister Neha Dubey is a seasonal theatre artist, who has worked in a few Bollywood films too. Ira Dubey has modelled for the ads of Mytra fashion, and has appeared in Bollywood films such as The President Is Coming, Marigold, Aisa Yeh Jahaan, Dear Zindagi, Dilliwali Zaalim Girlfriend, Turning 30, Aisha, M Cream etc.

Dubey was born in Delhi to well-known theatre personality, Lillete Dubey and her husband Ravi. Her father was earlier associated with Tata group and worked in corporate sector, while her mother was fully involved in theater. Ira was born into an artistic family, with deep bond to theater. Many of her family members are theatre artists, who are associated with films and television too. As Ira has theater background, she too joined acting stream following her mother’s footsteps. Her sister Neha Dubey and her aunt Lushin Dubey are also actors associated with different forms of entertainment.

Ira Dubey got drawn towards the field of art and acting since the age of 6. For her successful professional career, she trained in speech and movement development at Yale. She also learnt acting techniques at many international acting schools, before she turned a full-time professional actress. She extensively worked with many drama companies. She has been a part of Primetime Theatre Company’s drama productions - Womanly Voices, 30 Days in September, Wedding Album, Adhe Adhure and August: Osage County and also many international plays like A Midsummer Night's Dream, Othello, The House of Bernarda Alba etc.
