Innocent (actor) Biography

Born in Iranjalakkuda of Thrissur district, he gave a new direction to humour in Malayalam movies. His typical Thrissur accent has given significant contribution to the success of many movies as well as many heroes of Malayalam. He is an actor who is imitated most by mimics in comedy shows and when a parody was made making him Maveli, it was a huge success during Onam season of early 90’s. Till now, Keralites love to hear Maveli’s words through Innocent’s voice in a comic style.  His unique mannerisms had created waves in the comedy field of Malayalam movies as well as stage shows.

He debut Malayalam film world through Nrityasala in 1972 and has produced a few movies as well. Yet he became popular among Malayalis in the late 80’s through comic roles. He has done memorable roles in Ramjirao speaking, God Father, Nadodikattu, Mannar Mathai speaking, Manichitrathazhu and many more. He has done negative roles in a few movies like Mazhavil Kavadi and Keli and character roles in a few movies in the past 5 years. Ravanaprabhu and Thanmathra can be included in that list. He was most successfully paired with KPAC Lalitha. Most recently, he has been detected with lymphoma, a type of cancer and treatments are going on. Yet according to sources, he is out of danger and will be busy in acting field again. Till now he has acted in more than 500 Malayalam movies along with a few Tamil and Hindi movies.

Let me add one more interesting thing. Most recently we have seen the remakes of Malayalam movies to Hindi where Paresh Rawal played the pivotal role as comedy king by which he reformed himself from a villain to comedy actor. Most of those roles in Malayalam were done by none other than Innocent.  A few of those movies include Hera Pheri, Hulchul, Bhagam Bhag, Bhool Phulayya, Har Dil Jo Pyar Karega and many more.
