Ilene Hamann Biography

Ilene Hamann is an actress and model who hails from South Africa. Later she moved to Mumbai and did modelling assignments as well. She played the lead role in Mahesh Bhatt’s movie, Rog opposite Irrfan Khan. The movie was released in the year 2005 and couldn’t accumulate positive responses from public. But she became the first South African model to be cast in such a leading role in a Bollywood film. She is represented by Faith Models in South Africa and managed internationally by Star Born Talent. She has appeared in FHM Calendar 2011.

 
Ilene Hamann was born in Jeffreys Bay on born 9 June 1984. Later she moved to Cape Town. She was born to Dutch father and Portuguese mother. Hamann started her career with photography. Later she received many modelling offers and thus persuaded a career in modelling. Ilene studied in Nico Malan High School. She joined at Stellenbosch Academy of Design and Photography to pursue higher studies, but had to give up her studies as she received too many assignments in modelling.

 
Hamann came to India in the year 2003. She was on a tour to India, Dubai and Australia for modeling jobs. In India, her job highlights included editorials for Elle and L'Officiel. She has done ad campaigns of British designer Stewart Parvin's print advertising campaign, the bauknecht catalogue and Stihl power tools while she was at Cape Town.

 
Rog is a suspense thriller loosely based on Hollywood thriller, Laura. Hamann played lead role in its Hindi remake directed by Himanshu Brahmbhatt. The film was written by Mahesh Bhatt and produced by Pooja Bhatt, thus becoming a new face of Bhatt’s camp. Ilene played the role of Maya Solomon, a model and the whole story revolves around the murder mystery of this actress. Though the movie was a flop, the heroine was noted for her distinct looks.
