Himanshu Malik Biography

Himanshu Malik is a Bollywood actor and model, most known for the movie Khwahish with Mallika Sherawat. He entered Bollywood with Mira Nair’s movie - Kama Sutra: A Tale of Love (1996). But he gained first success through the music videos of Sonu Nigam where he was featured in Kuch tum socho of Deewana (1999) alongside Gul Panag and Deewane hoke hum of Jaan (2001) along with Sandali Sinha. The success pair of the music video of Jaan was experimented again by its video director Anubhav Sinha in his debut movie as a director and it proved successful too. The movie Tum bin released in 2001 was a surprise hit. Himanshu has also worked in movies like Rog, Jungle, Yamala Pagla Deewana, Mallika, Rain, Rakht, LOC Kargil and Koi aap sa. He has also written and directed his first short feature Q.E.D - Quod Erat Demonstradum.  

Himanshu Malik began his career through music videos. Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s Afreen Afreen featured Himanshu as the leading actor aside the successful model Lisa Ray and this album was a huge hit during 1997. Before that he had done his film debut with a role in Mira Nair's Kama Sutra: A Tale of Love released in the year 1996. Most of his movies have been given adult certificate including Kama Sutra, Rog and Khawish, the movie most remembered for its sensuality and 33 kissing scenes with Mallika Sherawat which was widely regarded very bold during 2004. This movie gave ‘sex tag’ for both its leading actors and Mallika continued same kind of roles including the movie Murder, released next year. Khwahish was the debut movie of Mallika. The movie tells the story about Amar Ranawat, rich, stubborn, and serious fellow who falls in love with a middle class lady, and got married, but later diagnosed with blood cancer.

Himanshu Malik played the role of Ali in the movie Rog. He worked aside Irrfan Khan and Ilene Hamann in this movie. It’s the murder mystery where the model Ilene Hamann is murdered and Irfan Khan investigates the case. He has worked in Ram Gopal Varma’s Jungle, yet it is the supporting role of Tum bin through which he gained public attention first.
