Harish Raj Biography

Harish Raj is an actor and director associated with Kannada film and television industry. Raj is quite popular as an actor, and is also nicknamed as Jumping Star. He got this name after he tried to jump from a theatre of Bangalore when his film Gun was to be pulled off. He made his acting debut with the television series Hosa Chiguru Hale Beru in 1996, and marked his film debut with Doni Saagali in 1998. Since then he is regular in both TV serials and Kannada films and has also been featured in several TV commercials. As a film actor, his roles in Dweepa, Koormavatara, Thaayi Saheba and Kaanuru Heggadathi were well received by audience and film critics. In 2009 he directed his first film – Kalaakaar.

 

He hails from Bangalore, Karnataka. He was born on 26 July 1976. He is married to Shruthi Lokesh since 2014 and the couple has one daughter. Marked his directorial debut in 2009 with the film Kalaakaar, he directed many movies where he played lead hero as well. Kalaakaar (2009), Gun (2011), and the most recent Shree Sathyanarayana (2016) belong to this category. He also acts in movies directed by other filmmakers. He marked his Malayalam film debut with Omega.exe, where he played a software professional along with Vineeth and Sanju. His character of half Kannadigan and half Malayali well suited him also.

 

Made his television debut in 1996, some of his popular shows are Maneondhu Moorubagilu, Kavyanjali, Minchina Balli etc. He has also appeared in the popular TV series, Malgudi days. He has acted in Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi television serials till now, and is currently concentrated most on to his film journey. In 2010, he played male lead in English film, Bengaloored directed by Swaroop Kanchi.
