Hansraj Gangaram Ahir Biography 
Hansraj Gangaram Ahir is an Indian politician belonging to Bharatiya Janata Party. He currently serves as a Member of Parliament in the 16th Lok Sabha, and also Union Minister of Home Affairs. A 4-time MP in national level politics, he exposed Coal Mining Scam specially pouni-3 in wcl, for which he is known most. He is a recipient of Sansad Ratna Award for four consecutive years since 2011, and this award is given to the top performers of Lok Sabha. He represents the Chandrapur constituency of Maharashtra consecutively for four terms since 1998, and is known to be a role model among politicians.
Hansraj Gangaram Ahir was born on 11 November 1954 in Nanded, Maharashtra. He is married to Lata Ahir, and the couple has three children. He served as the Member of Maharashtra Legislative Council during the period, 1994 to 1996. He was elected to Lok Sabha for the first time in 1996 representing Chandrapur constituency. He got re-elected from the same constituency in 2004, 2009 and 2014. He remained a member of Committee on Public Undertakings, Privileges, Coal and Steel, Food Management in Parliament House Complex, Agriculture etc at different points of time during his tenure as a Member of Parliament.
This leader is quite popular for his workaholic nature, and that’s why he was given Union Minister of Home Affairs position by Narendra Modi. It was for the first time he got a portfolio in centre. He has also visited many foreign countries as a delegate member. He has served as a board member of Tobacco Board, Panchayati Raj Samiti, Rojgar Hami Yojana and Bhatkya Vimukta Jati Ashram Shala Samiti.
