Hamsavardhan Biography

Hamsavardhan is an actor associated with Tamil films. He is the son of famous actor of yesterdays – Ravichandran, fondly called by fans by a dozen of names such as Kalaingnar Thilagham, Evergreen Hero, Chennai MGR, Kalai chelvan, Pudhumai Thilagam and many more. The famous Malayalam actress Sheela of Chemmeen Fame was his stepmother and noted film and television actor, George Vishnu is his stepbrother. However Ravichandran’s second marriage also entered in divorce. Hamsavardhan has two sisters and both are settled with marriage lives. As a film actor, Punnagai Desam was a successful venture, though he is yet to leave his mark as a successful actor.

Hamsavardhan was launched into films by his father in 1999 through his debut flick as a director - "Manaseega Kadhal”. That film was credited in his father’s real name P. S. Raman. The film got rave reviews from critics. But the movie was a box office failure. Hamsavardhan played a dual role in the movie. 2001 movie - Vadupatti Maapillai followed his debut flick. In 2002, Punnagai Desam was released. In this movie he played parallel lead aside Tarun Kumar and Kunal, and the movie did good business at box office. Sneha played the female lead.  Same year Junior Senior was released, a movie inspired by Bollywood hit – Bade Miya Chote Miya, where he got opportunity to work with Mammootty. Surprisingly the movie was a flop.

Nettru Varai Nee Yaaro Naan Yaaro, Inidhu Inidhu Kadhal Inidhu, Manthiran, Piragu etc are his movies released later and he failed to impress the audience. In 2005 he acted in his father's second directorial venture – Manthiran. Two movies - Guru and Bomman though started in 2009 got shelved very soon. Currently he is associated with Celebrity Cricket League as a team member of Chennai Rhinos.
